We all want an easy and healthy pregnancy. And you should follow the advice of your doctor as soon as you find out that you’re expecting.
Staying healthy throughout the full nine months isn’t always as easy as pie. Some ladies have zero health problems while others seem to be fighting a new one every other month.
Here are five ways that you can help you and your developing baby stay healthy and happy for the entire duration of your pregnancy.
1. Eat Frequently
Those expectant mothers with nausea and/or morning sickness best speak to your doctor first because you may not feel like eating all day.
But for those not experiencing any feelings of nausea, eating small and frequent meals throughout the day will help keep your energy flowing.
And, of course, we’re talking healthy meals and snacks such as chicken, carrots, veggies, and fruit.
2. Slow It Down
While you may feel perfectly fine, remember that you’re expecting. Your body is working super hard to make a tiny human being and you should always be aware of that.
Be sure to take some time out for yourself daily – sit down, eat slowly and enjoy your food, drink lots of water to keep hydrated, and give yourself a rest.
Listen to your body and what it’s telling you. If you’re tired, nap – don’t keep pushing yourself to exhaustion.
3. Ask For Help
Especially when you get into the later months during pregnancy, you won’t be able to do all of the things you could do so easily.
If you’re finding yourself tiring more easily or having to slow down and rest – ask for help from your partner, friends, or family members.
4. Find Support
If you feel you’d like to get others’ opinions on pregnancy or babies then seek out others that are pregnant or have just delivered.
Think support groups, mommy playgroups, and your local library may have a weekly meeting on such topics or they can point you in the direction as to where you can find some.
We’re also in the age of the Internet and there is a ton of information right at your fingertips. Everything from chat rooms to videos to live births are taking place via the Internet and they’re just waiting to help expecting mothers and families learn from them and join in on the discussion.
5. Pamper Yourself
Go get a manicure and a pedicure with the girls – or plan a weekend getaway with your partner before the baby comes.
You’ll be so wrapped up in all things baby once yours arrives that you’ll be glad you took the time out for yourself, trust me.
