Workout together, stay together!

There’s never enough time in the day to do all the things we want to do. After a long day at work, going to the gym is a great outlet, but this is yet more time that you’re not spending with your partner. It’s a balance that can be difficult to get right. The answer to this is working out together, not only are you getting to spend some valuable time with each other, but you’re also getting other emotional benefits too.

Increasing your emotional bond
Physical fitness is important, not just for your body, but for your mind also. Exercise releases endorphins and serotonin, lifting your mood and making you feel happier. Exercising together has a physiological effect and boosts the romantic attraction towards one another. After all, what happens when you exercise? Your heart rate increases, your pulse starts to race and your palms become sweaty - rather similar to those initial feelings of basic attraction. Exercising together strengthens the relationship both in and out of the bedroom.

Working together to achieve a goal
Being a couple is all about being part of a team. You can use each other’s energy for some great motivation. Joint workouts that boost your fitness are an excellent way of building up muscle and improving your energy levels. Studies have shown that if you take up healthy habits, your partner is more likely to as well. Making positive changes together strengthens the bond between couples and gives you both a great sense of achievement.

Sharing is caring
Exercises don't have to be complicated, you can go for a jog or a simple bike ride. This gives couples essential time to have a conversation and discuss emotional issues. Busy lifestyles often mean that relationships get neglected and we don’t have enough time to talk. The emotional bond formed by exercising is even greater if you are doing actions or creating rhythms that are the same, such as keeping up a walking pace together. This is called nonverbal mimicry and it makes people feel more attuned to one another.

You and your partner can help each other achieve your fitness goals together. Not only will you be getting in shape, but it can help you to become more loving and supportive. Getting healthy is important and making it part of your relationship can give you a whole new outlook on life and love.
